Organic food is good for the environment: it helps soil quality, helps prevent soil erosion, reduces the use of chemicals and helps keep them out of the foodchain. The FYEG campaign is important in spreading the message and helping us to support sustainable food production.

Macedonia becomes a healthy food Zone

The Republic of Macedonia joined the ranks of countries that have experienced the wild waves of organic food feasts during the last few months. On the 13th of september, they spread the news about the action all through the country.

The action was done by the IZGREV NGO, an environmental organisation in Macedonia that came into existence in 1991, and has always focused on raising awareness among the local population about environmental issues.

On the 13th of september, the organisation distributed information about the issue in Sveti Nicole, a municipality in Macedonia. The action received quite some media attention: Katarina Zafirova from IZGREV was interviewed on the local radio, Radio Sveti Nicole. The action was also covered by a national radio station, Radio Kanal 77.

IZGREV also started a section especially occupied with organic agriculture, named Bio Ovce Pole. More info can also be found here, on their website. They aim to develop organic agriculture in their region, as well as improve the social conditions of the farmers.
